Latest News - 21st Aug 2005
It just gets busier and busier!
Greenlight TV have confirmed they will be attending
the event to film the days action for a series of programs
on drifting and the evening Cruise Sport event.
Streetlife TV have confirmed their attendance covering
the event for a new DVD release.
Autocar magazine are now coming along to drive a few
of the tuner entries, enter their own team and cover
the event - the first time such an event has been covered
by them.
EVO magazine now seem to be bringing two teams!
Lotus Cars have asked to enter their latest Elise track
car - the 240R, as a full factory entry we're delighted
and in response Vauxhall are going to enter their VX220
Sprint car for the hell of it.
We have new entries from companies such as Norris Designs,
Sanspeed and Hartge (with their One Series BMW with
a V8 in it!) in all we have almost 40 separate tuner
entries to the GP, Drag Strip and Drift Challenge events.
The evening Cruise Event is hotting up with almost every
car club entering cars into the RWYB night dragstrip
event.
We're now running a competition with Autocar to win
VIP tickets to the event so check out their website
for details.
This is going to be one BIG event!
Superchips
Sponsors Drag Strip Challenge
"We're delighted to announce that Superchips,
the UK's largest, leading car engine software developer
are to sponsor the Drag Strip Challenge at the Milltek
Sport Car Tuner Grand Prix. In the Superchips Drag Strip
Challenge the main straight at Donington Park is turned
into a custom drag strip. Using MSA approved timing
equipment competitors are timed for the 1/4 mile, 0-60mph
and 0-100mph before braking for Redgate corner - it
will be spectacular!
A £1000 first prize awaits the fastest 1/4 mile time
attained.

We're also delighted to announce the Superchips Drag
Strip Club Car Challenge. The UK's leading car enthusiast
clubs are all invited to enter their 'best members car'.
Want to know who has the fastest Scooby or best Elise?
Then fight it out amongst yourselves to pick the best
in the club and enter the Superchips Drag Strip Challenge.
There is a small entry fee to cover insurance costs
for the event (£25) which gives you three runs up the
strip to get the best time and the chance to win the
£250 first prize and of course the bragging rights of
fastest club car at the Milltek Sport Car Tuner Grand
Prix."
12th July 2005
Its been a busy few months but we're excited to announce
that we now have 28 teams confirmed as entered into
the GP with vehicles as varied from the Mazda MX5 to
Porsche GT3's. Almost all car marques are represented
in almost every classification, we have entries from
UK, Germany and Ireland.
As well as the tuner firms entered into the Drift Challenge
we have also the UK's top 25 drift specialists going
head to head with the tuning firms best so the Drift
Challenge is shaping out to be a real 'best of the best'
Superchips have announced their sponsorship of the Drag
Strip Challenge and we're pleased to announce £1000
cash prizes for the winners of each event - GP, Drift
Challenge and the Drag Strip Challenge.
Along with our media partnership with Unity Media Plc
we're now in negotiation with 3 different TV companies
for coverage of the event itself for three different
channels. EVO Magazine have entered a team and Top Gear
are mulling over the idea as well, all we need is Car
Magazine to come along and we can have a head to head
to show who's the quickest of the mainstream car journalists!
The Trade Village is rapidly selling out of space and
we look to have filled the inner and outer paddocks
with trade stands from such companies as Oz, Toyo Tyres,
Turbo Dynamics and Track Club. Centre stage for the
Trade Village is the massive screen TV which will show
live action from the circuit and live track times of
all the entrants in the GP and Drag Strip.
In the outer paddock we are delighted to pay host to
the Drift Academy where anyone can try their hand at
drifting themselves in one of their custom prepared
MX5's. The really good news is that the best participant
from the crowd will get a wildcard entry into the Drift
Challenge final!
We've been inundated with applications from car clubs
and have over 30 wishing to attend and reserve space
in the exclusive infield area - the entire infield (which
offers some of the best views of the circuit) is exclusively
reserved for car club parking with allocated areas for
everyone. Everyone from the Vauxhall Sports Car Club
to the Subaru Impreza Drivers Club are coming in force,
some with over 500 cars expected!
Vauxhall VXR will have the new Astra VXR on show along
with the mighty Monaro VXR (of which there are 2 entered
into the GP, Drag Strip and Drift Challenge events)
being driven by some celebrities. There will be passenger
laps on offer in the VXR's throughout the day.
Milltek Sport will have their entire range of sports
exhausts on display including the new VXR range for
the Astra, Monaro, Vectra and Zafira as well as their
new systems for the Porsche 997, BMW E36 M3, the Audi
S4 V8 and the Golf Mk 5 which will also be giving passenger
rides round the circuit.
The evening activities are shaping up to be the largest
Cruise event the UK has ever seen. In association with
our cruise partners Cruise Sport, in the evening the
drag strip is opened up as a RWYB event, so see if you
can beat the times from the professionals, most of whom
will be sticking around in the evening to let their
hair down after the days competition. As well as the
drag strip there will be the usual ICE displays, competitions
and trade stands.
Finally we brought the Max Power Live Show at the NEC
to a stand still with our joint stand with Cruise Sport.
Response to the event (and the 8 scantily clad girls
on the stand) was overwhelming so we've increased the
ticket print run to 15,000.
Without shadow of a doubt the Car Tuner Grand Prix will
be the largest car tuner event the UK has ever seen,
be a part of it.
Tuner GP Team Hits Max Power
Live
We're
not sure if they know what hit them!
Great show, great attendance and great fun. We teamed
up again with the guys from Cruise Sport to promote
the TGP event and to say we were well received is an
understatement!
The response from the public was huge and we gave out
almost 10,000 leaflets promoting the event (some of
which may even have been read) but having the charms
of Anya, Tori, Paige, Louise etc may have had something
to do with it!
The evening Cruise is shaping up to be huge. Organised
cruises from every region in the UK are being planned
to converge on Donington Park during the day and when
the days competition draws to a close the circuit is
opened up for the public to have a chance to drive the
drag strip. The doors won't shut until midnight so it
looks to be a long day of fun.
